Detoxing your emotions

For a detox to work on all aspects of your life, you need to do more than cleanse your body... you need to detox your emotions.
Holistic healers believe that old resentments can burden your body and deplete your energy and, surprisingly, this idea is slowly becoming more accepted by practitioners of traditional medicine.
That's because there is increasing evidence that emotions create chemical reactions in the body, and that these substances, which have the potential to cause health problems later, can be stored in muscles and organs.
This area of "emotional" science is called neuroscience or "bodymind" medicine. While much more research is needed into the field there is no doubt that holding onto anger, resentment, frustration or envy can wear down your mind and body. If nothing else, you will regularly feel fatigued and have a deminished capacity to enjoy your everyday life.
Emotional detoxing means not only addressing these "old wounds", but also any harmful thought patterns and habits that lead to fear and anxiety - both of which can impact on your health.
